Canberra Libs pushing for revenge porn to be outlawed

The Canberra Liberals have accused the government of dodging the issue of revenge porn and are calling for it to be outlawed.

With studies showing 1 in 5 Australians have had intimate photos shared online without their permission.

Shadow Attorney-General, Jeremy Hanson, says something must be done.

Mr Hanson is releasing draft legislation asking for penalties of up to two years in jail for distributors of revenge porn.

He claims the issue is widespread and no effective deterrant exists here in the ACT.
