Study shows Canberra to Eden railway is not viable

Category: Capital Radio News

A feasibility study into the Canberra to Port of Eden Railway has found the project is not viable due to "high costs and low benefits".

The NSW government announced $1 million in funding for the study in 2018, but found the project would cost $6.3 billion with little return on investment.

The plan looked at rebuilding the existing rail line between Queanbeyan and Bombala, as well as extending it north to Canberra Airport and south to the Port of Eden for freight and passenger journeys.
