Fake Emails Targeting Labor's Eden-Monaro Candidate

Category: Capital Radio News

Fake emails are circulating which claim candidate Kristy McBain has pulled out of the by-election.
They say locals should remove voting signs, and people must preference the Liberal party in order for their votes to be valid.
The emails appear to be sent out at random and are the latest in a long line of disinformation against the former Bega Valley mayor.
Earlier this month, similar messages attempted to convince locals Kristy McBain was linked to the takedown of Cardinal George Pell, and that recent bushfires were God's punishment for the region.
Despite many of the emails promoting the Liberals, the party is also condemning the messages.
The Australian Federal Police are investigating.
