A 67-year-old man will face court charged over the vandalism of an ACT Police vehicle in Tuggeranong.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Tuggeranong police went to use a marked vehicle to respond to an incident but were unable to, as both of the rear tyres had been slashed.

Earlier that night, Police had noticed a man acting suspiciously in the Police station car park, CCTV footage allegedly shows the man stabbing the tyres with a knife.

The man was arrested and was found to be in possession of a small fishing knife.

He was arrested and charged with possessing a knife in a public place and damaging commonwealth property.

He'll face court at a later date.
