Former ACT cop wins compensation for workplace humiliation

Category: Capital Radio News

A former member of the ACT police has won his appeal for compensation after being humiliated in front of other officers during a performance meeting.

Stuart O'Callaghan, 56, says he developed a mental disorder after Tuggeranong Police Station sergeants openly ridiculed him -- calling him a risk, not just to the Australian Federal Police, but to the general public.

Federal workplace insurer, Comcare, had originally rejected Mr O'Callaghan's claim for compensation but The Administrative Appeals Tribunal has over-ridden their decision.

The tribunal has found ACT Policing failed to take administrative action in a reasonable manner.
